Wool, alpaca or cashmere

Hand wash in lukewarm water with a very mild soap like Eucalan. Avoid agitation or wringing of the fabric. Rinse with lukewarm water. Then roll gently in a towel to squeeze some of the water out of the fabric. Lay flat to dry.

Linen, silk or bamboo

Then gently roll in a towel to squeeze some of the water out of the fabric. Lay flat to dry. Steam or press with a moderately hot iron if desired. I like to put a thin cotton cloth between the handwoven piece and the iron just to be safe.

Cotton or cottolin

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle or hand wash. Machine dry on low heat setting or hang dry. Steam or press if desired.
